10/20/05 - U.S. SPORT AVIATION EXPO TO ASSESS HURRICANE WILMA THREAT FRIDAY
October 20, 2005 - The U.S. Sport Aviation Expo organizing committee will meet on Friday, October 21, to assess the threat posed by Hurricane Wilma, currently projected to make landfall in Florida on Sunday.
Bob Wood, chairman of the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo, scheduled for next week, October 27-31, in Sebring, Florida, advised EAA today that the committee will obtain the latest projections for the storm's path early Friday and then determine a plan of action for the event. "We're looking at three alternatives-go ahead as planned, delay the start of the event for a couple of days, or delay the event for a couple of weeks. When we get the latest storm path projections tomorrow, we'll decide what we believe is our best plan of action and advise everyone involved. We don't want to face a situation where the hurricane might render our locality without power and communication services and put exhibitors and visitors in a bad situation."
Wood indicated he would advise EAA and other organizations Friday about the committee's decision for the event. Check www.eaa.org and www.sportpilot.org for the latest information. |
