11/09/06 - PATTERSON RECEIVES FIRST GYROPLANE REPAIRMAN INSPECTION CERTIFICATE

Leonard “Paul” Patterson of Edmund, Oklahoma, is the first recipient of an FAA gyroplane Repairman Inspection (E-LSA) certificate after completing the 16-hour course administered by Fun Air, LLC in Mustang, Oklahoma. Patterson, who serves as vice president of EAA Chapter 24 in Oklahoma City, and Martin Weaver, former manager of the FAA’s LSA Branch and owner of Fun Air, each received certificates from the branch’s Edsel Ford on October 22. Weaver also serves as the chapter’s Young Eagles coordinator.

With the repairman certificate, Patterson can conduct annual condition inspections on his RAF-2000 gyroplane. Weaver and Kelly Teague are instructors for Fun Air’s FAA-accepted repairman course for E-LSA gyroplanes, our nation’s first such program.
