01/11/07 - THIRD ANNUAL SPORT AVIATION EXPO OPENS AT SEBRING
Great weather and strong attendance are gracing opening day of the third annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo at Sebring Regional Airport in Florida. With nearly 120 exhibitors covering every aspect of the light-sport aircraft industry on hand, this is the place to be through Sunday, January 14, for those wanting to learn more about sport pilot/light-sport aircraft.
EAA has coordinated a full slate of forums running throughout each day, and is also providing EAA members with free sport pilot student pilot certificates with an FAA designated pilot examiner. Flight demonstrations are being conducted by leading LSA manufacturers, and numerous aircraft including Cessna’s proof of concept Cessna Sport, are making periodic fly-bys.
People at the gate this morning were heard to say, “We’re here to buy airplanes!”
Mary Jones, editor of EAA Sport Pilot & Light Sport Aircraft magazine, and EAA Chief Photographer Jim Koepnick are on the grounds, as are EAA Membership Services staff, who are helping current and prospective EAA members join or renew, answer questions. Also at the Expo are representatives from Falcon Insurance Agency, providing information about the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan, and AirFleet Capital for the EAA Aircraft Financing Program.
Along with aircraft displays, exhibit booths feature engines, avionics, propellers, coatings, and other aircraft components. There’s also much on the grounds slated for instructors and maintenance people.
Grounds are open at 7:30 a.m., with exhibits open from 8:30 a.m-5 p.m. (3 p.m. on Sunday). For more information, visit www.sport-aviation-expo.com.
