Sport Pilot/Light-Sport Aircraft Insurance
EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan – Insurance for Sport Pilots and Light-Sport Aircraft Owners
On September 1, 2004, the new FAA Rules for Sport Pilots and Light-Sport Aircraft (SP/LSA) introduced a new era in recreational aviation. EAA and Falcon Insurance Agency were already taking leadership roles to make sure aircraft insurance would be available.
Many months in advance of the new FAA SP/LSA rules, EAA and Falcon were preparing presentations to all of the available aviation insurance companies to ensure the aviation insurance community would be familiar, comfortable, and prepare to offer aircraft insurance to sport pilots and LSA owners. This hard work paid off because the day the FAA announced the new FAA rules for SP/LSA, EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan and the EAA Non-Owned Aircraft Insurance Plan were immediately available.
Today you can buy and immediately insure both Special Light-Sport Aircraft (S-LSA) and Experimental Light-Sport Aircraft (E-LSA) with the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan.
If you are a private, commercial, or airplane transport pilot who wishes to fly as a sport pilot you can obtain insurance for an LSA with the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan.
New student sport pilots and new sport pilots can also obtain insurance through the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan.
Regardless of whether you need aircraft insurance for an airplane you own or are planning to buy, the EAA Aircraft Insurance Plan can make sure you have the right insurance at the best price. If you need insurance as a student sport pilot or if you are renting or borrowing an S-LSA or E-LSA, the EAA Non-Owned Aircraft Insurance Plan will provide the insurance you need.
